A Little Background
These racks were used on the bottom of C-47 Skytrain aircraft to drop canisters called parapacks, parapods or bundled equipment to troops on the ground in WWII. They could also drop supplies and equipment along with the paratroopers as they jumped out of the aircraft. The photo below shows the racks loaded with bundles and heading off on a combat drop.
The parapack racks are quite rare and none are presently installed on any C-47 in a museum to the best of my knowledge let alone on any flying aircraft. We have them in good condition and are complete with release mechanisms and sway braces. They will need restoration and are in the condition as pictured below.
The price for the racks is $2000 each or a full set of 6 for $10,000 FOB Stockton, California. We do take trades for WWII equipment especially armament, radio and radar gear. Any gun mounts, turrets or bombsights are always of interest.
For the airborne collector, this is the perfect way to display your parapod or paracaison
We also have other equipment to build an authentic C-47 like radios, astrodome mounts and other airframe parts. Just give us a call, or swing by with a shopping cart!
